I have traumatized my neighbors. Three days in a row this week I have gone walking on the greenway in shorts. My legs are as white as paper and blind even me when I look at them. But I figure I have to start working on getting some color, and I am not a tanning bed or self tan person, so they're just going to have to suffer!
The neighbors directly across from us have been doing things to their house for a year now. It started around this time last year with the addition on the back of the house, which led to us having a porta-potty visible from any room in the front of our house for 8 months. But they didn't stop with that. They re-concreted their whole driveway, added a stone walkway all the way up their front yard (houses are a good distance from the street here) with 2 fountains, one on either side of the steps with a cascading staircase waterfall from the house and two actual fountains that spray straight up in front of those. Sound tacky? They are indeed. The landscaping in the front was nice, and we thought they were done there. But no, last week they started building 2 large stone pillars on either side of their driveway. Those are finished now, and on the front of one is their address on a plaque, and the plaque on the front of the other it reads, "Lastnamemore", apparently comparing their home to the Biltmore mansion in Asheville. Now that the pillars themselves are done, we're debating whether they're going to put gas lights or huge lion statues on top of them. I swear in some neighborhood we live in we are going to find normal neighbors.
