Neighbors

So our least favorite part of our neighborhood is our neighbors.  They're all a smidge (or sometimes more than a smidge) older than us, and they're mostly just strange.  Our neighbors on our left are great, and to their left is my parents, so obviously we live on the cool side of the street.

But remember our neighbors directly across from us?  The ones who redid their front lawn with fountains and statuary (they've added a king since the two lions, and several large urns, 2 accompanied by large pillars)?  Well guess what's moved in to their fountains.  Frogs.  Bullfrogs to be more precise.  So if we want to go to sleep with the windows open (our bedroom is in the front of the house), guess what we hear.  Yes, bull frogs croaking until all hours of the night.  Lovely.  So can you knock on the neighbors door and say "your frogs are driving us crazy"?  It's not even that they're that close, those things are just loud!

And last night we got home later and took Abbie out for a walk.  As we round the corner back on to our street, we see a guy walking with a black trash bag slung over his shoulder.  Kind of strange for a Saturday night, no?  We get to our house and he's still walking, but now crossing the street diagonally and heading for my parents house.  Pooh decides to stay to see where's he going, and the guy plops himself down in my parents front yard.  So of course Pooh says he's going to stay there until he leaves.  I stayed there for a few minutes, but when he made no signs of moving, I went in and called the police.  (Not 911, just normal dispatch).  I tell them what's going on and they say they're going to send a car.  Well good thing the guy wasn't planning on robbing my parents, because in the amount of time it took them to get there, he could have broken in and cleaned them out pretty well.  Shortly before the police finally made a pass, two kids rode up on their bikes, talked to out guy with the trash bag, and then he walked to the house on the other side of my parents.  Apparently it was the teenage son.  But what is he doing walking around at night with a trash bag over his shoulder and then sitting in MY parents yard?  I told the police the story, and told him I was just watching out for my parents.  He said that that was a good thing, but I'm sure that he thought I was one crazy lady!

Drought Relief art

Pooh got a last minute gig with a jazz trio on Friday night. They played at a Drought Relief fundraiser which was held at Whole Foods. The music was ok :-D but the artwork was amazing! Local artists painted rain barrels and they were up for auction. Here's some of my more favorite ones.
