I have to say that 10 months of work, no matter how stressful, almost seems worth it for the two months off. Although technically I was "on call" until last Friday, and did have to go in a few times. But now the phone should not be ringing with the school's name on the caller ID until at least August 4th. Woohoo.

We've just finished up the 9th week of South Beach. Pooh has no more tummy and looks great. Well, I never thought he looked bad before, but now he looks even better AND is healthier. What's slightly annoying is that we've both lost about the same amount of weight, but we've approached it differently. We've both changed how we eat dramatically (I can't tell you the last time I craved a cookie or a jellybean or chocolate.. really!). Additionally, I have been getting up most mornings and run/walking 4 miles, up and down hills, in the stinkin' early morning heat. And yoga. Shouldn't that at least put me a few pounds ahead of him? But really, I love it, and just another way summer suits me... I would love to be able to get up early enough in the morning before school to do that. It's a great feeling at 4PM to think, "Hmmm, I should really hit the pavement - oh wait, I already did!"

This afternoon I am heading out to dinner with a friend, and then to a Weight Watchers meeting. Despite the fact that I don't need the motivation of stepping on someone else's scale, I am going with K because she wants me to. And I know it's much easier to do with a friend. Plus, I've promised myself no stepping on the house scale if it's going to be all "official" every week.

And then to pub trivia with $3 pints. But I've been nominated the designated driver (of my own free will - that stuff has calories, and carbs!) so I should be fine. Just don't give me the menu. :)
