Ray Charles dies yesterday. Funny I found myself more saddened by his death than that of Ronald Reagan. Although when I was younger I claimed I hated the music my dad played, I can vividly recall seeing this talented black man in glasses and admiring his talent. A few months ago when they announced he was ill (with liver cancer), it was mentioned that he was working on an album of duets with various other artists, including Norah Jones. I do hope this album gets released, even if it isn't quite finished.
It's been a lazy week. Wednesday I ventured to the outlets on my own, the other days I didn't do anything that I can even remember. Oh Tuesday we did pub trivia at RiRa with Alan and Kristen. Drunken trivia, gotta love it. With one fewer I may have remembered the title of the BeeGees "Nights on Broadway", which is what kept us from winning the audio round.
Pooh and I had a pretty good fight Wednesday night, I ended up sleeping on the sofa. Why I didn't think to make up the guest bed, I have no clue. Anyway, it was the same onld "You'r only interested in you..." argument, and I think I won. However, if you ask him I'm sure he's still right :)
We went to the screening (woohoo! one whole night before it opens!) of The Terminal last night... it was "high security" so after getting seated and comfy with diet coke and popcorn, they announced we had to get up, go back out of the theatre, get wanded and take any photo cellphones back to our vehicles. Like anyone there would have rushed back home at 10PM with a grainy 640x480 cellphone shot of a movie taken in a dark theatre 16 hours before it was released in theatres nationwide. ANyway, we complied, and pooh was gone over 15 minutes taking our phones back to the car. And they call me blonde. He was standing in line all over again to get back in. I went and saved him, though. We also ran into Helene and her kids, so at least we had a good time before the movie started. The movie was very good, but very sad and depressing. I wouldn't go if I were not in a good mood.
I have been waking up to Bronte purrs and licks the last few days, goofy cat. She sits on my pillow at my head and stares at me. I keep telling her she's going to give me a complex.
Tomorrow is the Race for the Cure. Mom and I are heading over to sign up for it this morning since we forgot to send in our registration forms. I would love to run it this year, but I hate to leave Mom walking on her own. Instead I'll run one in the fall. It will be cooler, at least.
I am being brave and trying a brand new stylist for a haircut. Madison looked so cute yesterday with her new 'do, and she got it done by a new girl at a nice salon... because she's new she only charged $19... far better than my $45 I've been paying with Alex. Hopefully she doesn't screw up too badly. Only disadvantage to not going back to Alex is Abbie can't come along and play with Betty. WHich is ok, because Betty is always groomed better than Abbie anyway ;)
